Model RealTime 10.3 2019.27

July 09, 2019

We are just back from an interesting week at Embedded Technologies Conference in San Jose. Visitors to the HCL booth had the opportunity to learn about HCL Model RealTime and HCL OneTest Embedded, two great products for developing and testing embedded and IoT applications. A fun way to learn was to play the BecomeAnRTist game. Congratulations to all winners!

Now let's look at some of the news in the new release of Model RealTime that was just released.

When working in the Capsule Development viewpoint, the "Transformation Configuration" virtual folder is now always shown in the Project Explorer, even for projects without transformation configurations. This makes it easier to create a new transformation configuration file using the context menu.

The model compiler now supports generation of fully qualified state names. This feature is controlled by a new TC property called "Generate fully qualified state names". Qualifiers for states are useful if you have a hierarchical state machine with multiple states having the same name. Note that this is currently an experimental feature.

Finally, let's mention an improvement that is not in the product itself, but in the BecomeAnRTist game on GitHub. The game has now been extended to collect some interesting statistics while it is being played. The data is sent using MQTT and visualized in a dashboard implemented by a Node-RED flow. This shows how easy it is to, for example, use MQTT for publishing data from your IoT application.

The Model RealTime development team will now begin a long 8-week sprint, to accomodate for the summer vacation periods. This means that the next version of Model RealTime can be expected in the first week of September. Until then, have a great summer!
