Description:
This extension point provides a means to extend the "Explore" palette in diagram editors that support the expore palette. The explore palette is composed of tools that are composed of a system query that is executed every time the tool is invoked.

<!ELEMENT paletteProvider (enablement? , contribution+)>

A palette provider is matched against an enablement expression in order to determine if its contributions should be added to the palette. The enablement expression is provided with the diagram editor part. The following additional variables are provided to the enablement expression: "diagramType" and "defaultPaletteContent." Diagram type is a string that corresponds to the diaram type of the editor. The palette details variable is assigned to the object provided by the editor's getDefaultPaletteContent() method.

A palette entry can be either a drawer or a tool. For a drawer, the label, id and description attributes should be set. For a tool, the label, id, path ("/drawer.id"), description, small_icon, large_icon and system_query_file attributes should be set.

This element is used to evaluate the property state of the object in focus. The set of testable properties can be extended using the org.eclipse.core.expressions.propertyTesters extension point. The test expression returns EvaluationResult.NOT_LOADED if the property tester doing the actual testing isn't loaded yet and the attribute forcePluginActivation is set to false. If forcePluginActivation is set to true and the evaluation context used to evaluate this expression support plug-in activation then evaluating the property will result in activating the plug-in defining the tester.

Tests a system property by calling the System.getProperty method and compares the result with the value specified through the value attribute.

This element is used to iterate over a variable that is of type java.util.Collection, or a variable that adapts to org.eclipse.core.expressions.IIterable. If the object in focus is not one of the above then a CoreException with an ExpressionStatus will be thrown while evaluating the expression. The child expressions of an iterate expression are combined using the "and" operator.

This element is used to reference an expression from the org.eclipse.core.expressions.definitions extension point. The expression definition will be evaluated within the current expression element using the current evaluation context.



API Information:
Clients who wish to make use of the explore palette should extend the com.ibm.xtools.emf.query.ui.diagram.DiagramEditorWithExplorePalette or com.ibm.xtools.emf.query.ui.diagram.DiagramDocumentEditorWithExplorePalette with their diagram editor. When the editor is opened, the palette will be revealed with "Create" and "Explore" tabs provided that there are any explore tools available for the editor in that context. Otherwise, the palette appears normally.
